Cast and crew of a reading of my play, the isle is full of noises, part of The Playwrights Realm's Native American Artist Lab, 2023. Dir. by Ākea Kahikina, Stage Manager - Alyssa Rios, Stage Directions - Anna Mikami. Featuring Makoa as BILLY, Chris Doi as UNCLE SAM "KAMU", ʻAnaseini Katoa as LAHELA, Jason Tam as KANEAKUA, and Sienna Aczon, Les Mau, and Erica Ito as the CHORUS.
Sean’s play, otou-san won highest marks in the 2021 Creative Lab Hawai’i Playwrights Immersive Program, aided in development by mentor Chay Yew. otou-san was further developed while Sean participated as a Spring 2024 Workshop Intensive Playwright at The Workshop Theater. The play was a finalist for the Bay Area Playwrights Festival 2023 as well as Semi-Finalist for the 2023 National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center.
In 2023, Sean's play Beretania Snapshots, was produced at Kumu Kahua Theatre (see some production photos below).
His play the isle is full of noises was also selected for the 2024 National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center as a Finalist and was developed in The Playwrights Realm’s inaugural Native American Artist Lab, where he was mentored by Rhiana Yazzie & Victoria Nalani Kneubuhl.
Sean developed both his playwriting skills and his play the folly of icarus while a Lambda Literary Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices fellow (2024). The play was recognized as a Semi-Finalist for the 2025 National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, Semi-Finalist for the 2024 The Frank Moffett Mosier Fellowship for Works in Heightened Language Synecdoche Works, and Semi-Finalist for the Lifeline Theatre’s BIPOC Developmental Workshop Lifeline Theatre (2024).
Sean's writing has been published by The Dramatist, Bamboo Ridge Press, Alon: Journal for Filipinx American and Diasporic Studies, Lambda Literary, and Übersee-Museum Bremen.
